Our philosophy here is to give our guests the type of accommodation we ourselves expect, being a very clean place, with comfortable beds, a good shower, and a great breakfast to set you up for the day ahead. Having spent several years making our home somewhere special for us and our guests, we feel confident we have now achieved our ambition.

We use only extra virgin olive oil where appropriate when preparing our cooked breakfasts, adding an extra flavour dimension to our delicious freshly cooked options.

Free WiFi availableFree wireless Internet access is available for our guests, and we have a laptop computer which you can use if needed.

We have a flagged area of hard standing for the parking of motor cycles, to help compensate for our mostly gravelled driveways.

All our guests staying more than one night will have their rooms freshened up with a daily service.

You'll be pleased to know that we are in a Midge free zone here.

Your home from home is situated in the heart of Galloway, in Scotland's national book town, we're on the south side of Wigtown the County town of old Wigtownshire. The town is situated on the north east coast of the Machars region.

From here it is easy to discover the many country gardens, the numerous historic sites and visitor attractions, to visit the local distillery at Bladnoch, to enjoy Wigtown Bay, the UK's largest local nature reserve, and explore the RSPB nature reserve Crook of Baldoon, or the many book and gift shops in town. The nearby Galloway Forest Park is home to the UK's first Dark Sky Park and hosts many wonderful scenic places to see and wander in splendid natural beauty.

There are so many attractions to see and activities to do here that we have a huge list of ideas on our Activities page so you can prepare yourself for what you can do when here!

Galloway is second only to the Highlands for the lowest population density in Scotland, so it's very peaceful and unhurried here. No wonder the nearby Galloway Forest Park has been awarded the status of a Dark Sky Park, the first one to be nominated outside the U.S.A. The stars shine so bright here, you can see the Milky Way on a moonless night quite clearly.

Further proof of how wonderful this region is came with the award of the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere, which is another first for Scotland. Biospeheres are host to an amazing combination of landscapes, wildlife and culture, with communities that care about and for their environment. An official acknowledgement of our wonderful natural area.

It really is beautiful here in unspoilt Galloway, it truly is Scotland in miniature, with mountains, forests, lochs and stunning coastal scenery. So come on, lift your spirits high, smile widely and come over to find out for yourself. You'll love it here.
